What is Proxy Server and How it is Work ?

The proxy server is used to access Web pages by the other computers. When another computer requests a Web page, it is retrieved by the proxy server and then sent to the requesting computer. It help us to keep our privacy on internet and secure.

Proxy server is just like a wall between you PC and the Internet. When you use a proxy, the webpage on the other side won’t be able to see your PC, webpage interacts with the proxy and proxy in return shows us the webpage which we requested.Proxy servers can also make your Internet access work more efficiently. If you access a page on a Web site, it is cached on the proxy server. This means that the next time you go back to that page, it normally doesn’t have to load again from the Web site. Instead it loads instantaneously from the proxy server.

Use of Proxy Server

  • A proxy server can monitor the web browsing activity of its users since all traffic is logged on the proxy server
  • Hiding machine or other servers from public. It provides security.
  • Proxy servers can cache data and images locally, thus allowing the web browser to fetch the data and images faster from slow websites.
  • To bypass security/ parental controls.
