How to Protect Your Accounts from Phishing Scams

Phishing is becoming a common issue now that many users report their account is hacked by some one. And this is happening mostly with social networking and mail accounts.Phishing is known as an attempt to collect usernames, passwords, and credit card data by posing links, apps ans emails as trusted party. Mainly phishing teams using e-mail sent from a trusted address.

How Phishing Working ?

For example – Phishing going on facebook is like this one. The most used method is by creating page looking same as facebook login page and redirecting people there. The easy way to attract people to this fake login page is by creating a facebook group with an interesting subject and name like See who is watching your profile or photos like that and inviting people to join. After that they will be asked to invite your friends to join too and then click here for invite. It will redirect you to the fake login page asking you to enter the facebook login details so then the application will be activated to work. But what happed, your login detail already took by phishing team.

After Effects ?

  • After hacked your account by phishing they will start to edit your informations.
  • Some times hacker change password of your account, changes the email id password or read your important mails.
  • Automatically transfer amount from your bank account or credit card.
  • Sending spam message to your contacts.

How to Protect ?

  • Please check the URL of web page you are logging in. Make sure it is the original page, not an imitation.
  • Do not use your e-mail password in other accounts too.Use diffrent password for diffrent accounts
  • Use recovery accounts for email ID.
  • Block your credit card if any problem detected.
  • Use good antivirus with latest database.
