[Review] Fujifilm FinePix HS20 EXR SuperZoom Camera

The Fujifilm FinePix HS20 EXR is an updated model of HS10 model. In this model it had superzoom lens with more focal range for long shoot. I think FinePix HS20 EXR model is far better than an entry-level DSLR purchase. HS20 is targeting at those who looking for a camera with superzoom lens that can produce the same picture quality of a DSLR camera, all at a more attractive price. The HS20 have a zoom ring and in addition is equipped with a full set of manual focusing ring. In use the HS20 is bigger and heavier than most of the other superzoom cameras.

The Fuji HS20’s 30x optical zoom lens (24-720mm equivalent) is a best feature avilable on this model. Lens has a manual zoom ring that’s goog for accurate focus on any object. HS20 with f/2.8-5.6 aperture range is also impressive when considering superzoom shots. Fuji HS20 has a 16-megapixel, back-side illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor with EXR processing technology and sensor-shift image stabilisation technology. The FinePix HS20 has the ability to shoot both a RAW and JPEG shot simultaneously. Images can be captured from ISO 100-3200 at any resolution. Also there’s a 1080p Full HD movie recode mode that use the H.264 compression codec for HD experiance.

The FinePix HS20EXR’s strong sensor and processing technologies allows you to capture shots in full resolution shooting at 3fps, 5fps, 8fps or 11. fps at an 8 MegaPixel resolution. A dedicated video record button is positioned for record full HD 1080 30 fps with stereo sound, as well as other High Speed Movie options, which include 320 x 112 pixel capture at 320 fps or 640 x 480 pixel capture at 80fps, user can capture videos in high-definition or super-slow motion.

The FinePix HS20EXR have electronic viewfinder, high quality tilting LCD screen can be angled 45′ down or 90′ upwards and deep hand grip ensures the camera handles well. HS20 is powered by 4x AA batteries and up to 300 shots with Alkaline batteries. Nikon P500, Canon SX30 IS and Sony HX100V all have included rechargeable li-ion batteries. I think this is not a drawback for HS20.

  1. Hi Arun, I want a Super Zoom but with as good as I can get for indoor or low light.  What would you recommend among these or from your own preference?  Nikon Coolpix P510 $249, Olympic SP-810UZ $140, Fuji HS30EXR $305, Cannon SX40 $240 and SX500 $220.  I don’t want to spend more than $300 but if you told me to, I would. Thanks, Doug
