How to Use Google Public DNS to Increase Browsing Speed

Google offers a free public DNS called Google DNS. DNS services’s working is when you type in a web address, the DNS services look up the IP address of the server and send you to the website.Every ISP has its own DNS (Domain Name Server) but some time it response very slowly which affect your internet browsing speed. To increase your browsing speed you can use Google public DNS which are much faster than any other DNS server. Switching from the default ISP DNS services to Google Public DNS will speed up your internet and it is free.

Steps to Setup DNS

  1. Go the Control Panel.
  2. Click Network and Internet, then Network and Sharing Center, and click Change adapter settings.
  3. To change the settings for an Ethernet connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and click Properties.
  4. To change the settings for a wireless connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and click Properties.
  5. Double click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
  6. Click Advanced and select the DNS tab. If there are any DNS server IP addresses listed there, write them down for future reference, and remove them from this window.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Select Use the following DNS server addresses. If there are any IP addresses listed in the Preferred DNS server or Alternate DNS server, write them down for future reference.
  9. Replace those addresses with the IP addresses of the Google DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.
  10. Click Ok.
  11. Disable and enable LAN.
