How to enable WebM video codecs for IE 9

Google has issued a plugin for the new  Internet Explorer 9 that allows users to play videos in Google’s WebM video file format. This release of WebM you can be installed for IE9 running on either Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows Vista.  After installing the components, WebM video should be playable not only in IE9 but in any other Windows application that uses the MF, which should be any media-centric app unless it uses its own built-in codec libraries, like VLC.

For the installation you just need to visit the Google WebM codecs download page, click the big-blue Download WebM for IE9 . Once installed, the WebM components will automatically check for updates and install them. After installation go to www.youtube.com/html5 and enroll in the YouTube HTML5 experiment.

For uninstalling WebM go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > WebM Media Foundation Components.

WebM video codecs will only work with IE9 because IE8 and previous versions do not support HTML5 technology.
