Call phones from Gmail

Yep, Its real . Google started call phone service in Gmail. This service don’t required both people to be at their computers. Calls to the U.S and Canada will be free for rest of 2010 and other countries will be billed at low cost like $ 0.02 per minute. Dialing a phone number works like normal phone. Just click Call phone at the top of your chat list and dial a number or enter contact name.

The service is rolling out right now for those Gmail users in the US. If you are not in the US then you’ll need to wait a little longer although Google did mention that the service will eventually arrive to others. Calls that cost money will be charged from an online account that users can top up with a credit card. If you have a Google Voice phone number, calls made from Gmail will display this number as the outbound caller ID. And if you decide to, you can receive calls made to this number right inside Gmail.
